A squeeze page is a webpage that collects information from a reader in exchange for a free product or access to a website. Squeeze pages usually consist of one or more of the following pages:
- main page: the page that collects the information and offers the product.
- terms of service: the terms of service to use the site.
- privacy policy: an information page about what the site owner will do with the information.
- contact page: a page where the reader can contact the owner.
The main page of the squeeze page is usually the one the read sees first. This page is used to sell whatever product or service is being introduced to the reader and used to collect information such as an email address and a first name.
This page should be simple. This isn’t used for branding or spreading too much information except what the reader will receive if she fills out the form.
The main page should have a catchy question in an eye catching font and font color. I like to use red or pink. This should be centered and place below a logo or a picture of something else that is rather large and catchy. Maybe a beach with palm trees or a $ sign. Something that draws attention so the reader catches the dream then moves down to the next biggest, most colorful item which will be the red text.
The next item on the page should be a catchy phrase in smaller black text, centered.
The next part may contain a video or a picture of what you’re offering as well as bullet points of how this product can help you. It’s best to have a free product to grab attention and then offer a bigger version or different product once the capture page grabs the information.
The bullet points can offer information in the free products and why it’s so important to get it.
Then add the form. The best forms, email collection tools, autoresponders, and mail management lists I have found are from aweber. You can get a free trial from aweber for $1.00 for a whole month and if you’re not satisfied then you can cancel the service.
Once the user have filled in the information, the squeeze page collects the information and either sends the free product directly or points to the page where the product can be downloaded. This is where you decide what to offer next or to have your autoresponder offer the next item.
Remember to always add the privacy policy, terms of service, and a contact page at the bottom. Google and your readers like to see these links because they show you are serious about doing business.
Some great samples of squeeze pages are from Coffee Shop Millionaire and John Chow. These professionals know how to grab your information and yearn for more learning.
You can create your own squeeze pages using HTML and the aweber form or there are services out there that can create them for you. squeezetheme helps you make a squeeze page from WordPress and for many that will be the easiest way to put one together.
However you decide to put together your squeeze page, know that using one helps you stay in contact with your readers which is one of the most important parts of Internet marketing.
